Every person is unique. With unique stories and circumstances. Unique journeys and recovery.

You may experience the journey and dance of recovery with different perspectives and outcomes than these folks, but I wanted to share some of the nice things patients have said about our time together.

My oldest daughter, Anna, is currently living in London, pursuing her dreams and studying Photography at the University of the Arts, London. She is a wonderful daughter and I am incredibly proud of her.

Four years ago, Anna was suffering from the devastating effects of an eating disorder. Fortunately, we were referred to Janice to help us get therapy for Anna. It was because of Janice and the help and advice provided to Anna and the family that Anna was able to overcome her eating disorder. Janice’s impact on Anna’s life was invaluable and I can’t thank her enough for being there for her and advocating for her all of those years. -Matt, father

Janice helped me to see the beauty in myself and the life I had, flaws and all, and to embrace that. To find my voice in my life and environment. Without her guidance, her help, and her amazing support, I don’t imagine I would’ve been so lucky to create such a beautiful life for myself, to overcome my ED, to trust myself in the chaos, and to understand and care for my mind, my body, and my soul. -Anna, 18 years old

Before discovering Janice I had not been able to successfully keep my eating disorder from returning. With compassion – never judging, always coaxing and confirming – she guided me to recovery using sensible meal/snack plans customized by a Registered Dietitian, practical suggestions with which to handle my bubbling emotions and innovative ideas tailored just to me.

Through consistent journaling, reading, and discussing issues first with myself and then with Janice, I learned who I was which grounded me. She taught me to sit in a quiet spot when my emotions raged, observe myself from “above”, and let them pass through me. This way I learned to acknowledge what I felt and knew I’d be fine again without binging. I now find life exciting! If you’re willing to work so is Janice and I’ll always be grateful to her. -Anita, 60 years old

I suffered with an eating disorder for more than 10 years and I met Janice when I was finally forced to seek help. I was unsure if I would ever be able to recover, but I was thankfully wrong.

I learned so much from Janice during my work with her that it is difficult to even put it into words. I felt heard and understood for the first time in my life. Janice helped me gain the confidence I needed to fully recover from my eating disorder.

She was very open with me about her own struggles and recovery. Seeing someone else who had overcome some of the same issues was inspiring to me and it gave me hope. It was a long, difficult process and it was never easy, but Janice showed me that it was unquestionably worth the effort. I am absolutely certain that I could not have healed without Janice’s help. I am now pursuing my dream of getting my doctorate and becoming a professor. Life without my eating disorder is not perfect and I still struggle from time to time, but thanks to Janice, I will never go back to life with an eating disorder.” -Kendall, 29 years old
